Composition for Seagull and Halldorophone (2005) 11′ audiotape premiered 7.8.2005, Finnish Academy of Fine Arts, Helsinki
This work was a collaborative effort with artist Halldor Ulfarsson, consisting of field recordings of Helsinki’s seagulls at the height of their April mating season, and studio improvisation on the Halldorophone, an electroacoustic instrument, designed and built by the artist, that produces mostly feedback tones. The piece explores similitarities between the language of seagulls and the sounds of Ulfarsson’s instrument.
